A theoretical study of the dynamic response of planar timber frames with semi-rigid moment-resisting connections subjected to wind loads

The dynamic response of semi-rigid timber frames subjected to wind loads is investigated numerically in this paper. more than one million unique with different parameters was assessed the frequency-domain gust factor approach, which currently adopted by Eurocode 1, and time-domain generalized load method. In method, were simulated for three velocities five simulations per combination parameters, resulting twelve total. Qualitative quantitative observations dataset made. Empirical expressions accelerations, displacements, fundamental eigenfrequency proposed use nonlinear regression applied obtained numerical results a frequency reduction developed. wind-induced accelerations two methods compared corresponding serviceability criteria according ISO10137, providing insight about feasibility moment-resisting as lateral load-carrying system mid-rise buildings.
